Pilates

Pilates is for every body. It meets you where you are at and bends itself to make sense for your body, your needs, your goals. We often use Pilates as an additive to physiotherapy when someone needs to learn how to move their body in more optimal ways.

Pilates allows us to target the quieter muscles in the body (ie. the deeper layers of support for your skeleton) and make sure they are online and doing their thing – not being drowned out by the louder, powerful muscles.

The approach allows us to integrate and practice subtle new firing patters into fuller movements. This helps integrate these patterns into your life more quickly and easily.

We can then build out the body’s strength and integration from the inside out ensuring optimal resilience for all tasks, play, sports, etc.

For clinical Pilates at The Cheerful Pelvis you are welcome to book yourself in online, and you receive a receipt for Pilates, not physiotherapy.

If you are referred to our Pilates instructors from a Cheerful physio as part of your care, you get a receipt for physiotherapy support work, which can often be claimed under your benefits (please check with your provider).
