Cheerful Pelvis Icon - Yellow We have a no-ego culture and are all learning and growing alongside each other.

We hold weekly team trainings and our learning spans from clinical growth and excellence, to personal growth, team building, and social issues. A big focus is clinical reasoning and personal reflection.

We are passionate about justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, and are working hard to assess our own privilege and bias and make our individual and collective work more inclusive and accessible to clients who experience marginalization.

We are a busy clinic that has the good fortune of only growing and flourished through the challenges of 2020. We have a great reputation and new staff consistently walk into a full caseload. Yay!

Who are we?

The Cheerful Pelvis is a team of empowered pelvic health physiotherapists and allied staff working on the beautiful lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations in Vancouver, British Columbia. Our overarching mission is that all people prioritize pelvic health and are able to access an exceptional provider.  Within our clinic, we focus on collaborative learning and professional and personal growth as we strive towards excellence in clinical experience. We prioritize the wellbeing of our staff as much as the wellbeing of our clients, recognizing that each is dependent on the other.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced physiotherapist to join our team. Someone with:
-A goal to move directly into a senior physiotherapy position OR jump on the pathway to senior physio.
-Experience treating all sexes for bladder and bowel dysfunction, sexual pain, genital pain, complex pain and trauma, perinatal care, and pelvic floor-related musculoskeletal conditions, AND experience successfully taking these clients through to meet all their goals.

-Interest in contributing to formal and/or informal mentorship of our clinical team and taking students/shadows.
-A minimum commitment of 3 days per week.
Not sure if you’re considered an “experienced physio”? Reach out anyway and we can chat further; we have a pathway to senior physio that may be perfect for you!

What we can offer you:

-Competitive compensation with room for financial growth: $110k-125k for senior physio based on 30 clinical hours as a commissioned employee; additional hourly pay for non-clinical work; potential for switching to salary; $90-110k for junior physio based on 30 clinical hours as a commissioned employee
-We are a well-established clinic with a broad referral source, so no need to build your own caseload

And here’s what some of our staff has to say, starting with a senior physio:

“I have always loved my clinical role, but I found myself fatiguing of clinical care. I also felt that the learning opportunities I was exposed to mainly improved my clinical skill set, but I was craving opportunities to expand my skill set in other areas. Before TCP I took on a lot of unpaid volunteer projects that made me excited again about my clinical work, but left me overstretched and exhausted. Joining TCP and taking on a Senior Physiotherapist role brought a better work/play balance into my life; it allowed me to continue to treat clinically and at the same time push my comfort zone and upskill in other areas (leadership, mentorship, education, management), all within the boundaries of my job role. The senior physio role at our clinic is a unique opportunity to discover untapped strengths and build those skills, without having to abandon clinical care.”

“Exactly the team dynamic that I have been looking for for years. Feels like we are learning and growing from one another. I feel supported and like I am part of a “whole” while still feeling like I have autonomy to do my thing.”

Employee Testimonials

“One of the things that has made me feel most supported is that I can ask a clinical question and be met with enthusiasm instead of dread or judgment. We have a commitment to growth and all have learning goals. That fact alone makes me feel supported and doesn’t make me feel less than when I don’t have all the answers. The feeling of always having to perform and be perfect is exhausting and sometimes crushing. I feel at TCP that I can take a layer of that off and be my authentic self as everyone else is doing the same and accepting that we are all learning/growing together.”

- Employee

“Having individual mentorship at TCP has taught me to look for my strengths and has helped me grow in my weaker areas. Also I so appreciate that when we discussed my hours when I was onboarding, your focus was my well-being and not how much money I would bring to the clinic. It helped me open my mind that as a boss, you valued me as a person more than just what I could do for you. It helped me reframe time as not just a commodity for earning money”

- Employee 2

“I purposely took this job knowing it didn’t have the same financial pay that I previously had but this work has been transformational to me as a person as well as it has already altered my trajectory as a physio and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

- Employee 3

“Exactly the team dynamic that I have been looking for for years. Feels like we are learning and growing from one another. I feel supported and like I am part of a “whole” while still feeling like I have autonomy to do my thing.”

“Equal seniority at work. The “team” approach cultivates such an inclusive environment and moves us away from so much conflict or cliqueness. Usually, I am one to want to take everything on myself, but this is the first environment where I am eager and willing to lean on a team member, even/especially Anniken, when necessary, and truly do feel like we operate as a collective “one”.”

“Since joining TCP my clinical and personal skills have exponentially grown with exceptional support and mentorship. Between formal mentorship and informal colleague chats, TCP’s support is amazing,  you never feel alone. Along the way, no question too small or too big has not been answered. I could not have found a better clinic to facilitate my transition from countries, public to private healthcare, and pelvic health! Thank you so much Anniken and Trish (+TCP team)!”

“Even before I stepped foot in the clinic, I felt welcomed and supported by each member of Team Cheerful. Anniken has created an environment at TCP that fosters growth, team learning, and both personal and professional exploration. Especially as a new hire, Anniken ensured that I felt supported between 1-1 mentorship, group in-services, and daily questions as needed. This included support through my own struggles with perfectionism, as well as clinical support in areas like caseload management and clinical reasoning. I am so thankful to be apart of a team that celebrates all questions big and small, as well as provides a safe space to dive into the nitty-gritty of physio.”

“Working at TCP has been an awesome experience and I’m so sad to be leaving! The job itself is challenging and interesting, with lots of opportunity to grow your customer service skills with a friendly and varied client group! The ethos is all about growth and how we can do better to create an accessible and welcoming environment. The best part of my job is seeing clients come out of their sessions with big smiles on their faces and commenting on how great their sessions were!

TCP hands down has the best team environment! Everyone is completely supportive of each other and are always there to boost you if you’re not feeling your best. The leadership team sets an amazing example for the rest of the team, in their willingness to listen and learn from each other, and have fun at the same time! It’s been inspiring for me to work with such an awesome group of women!”

- Client Care Coordinator, Megan S.

“I really enjoy working at TCP, our clinic aims to be inclusive and supportive and that culture is fostered by our leadership team.

I love being a part of a team that wants to make a real, lasting difference in the lives of our clients. As well as changing the way we engage with healthcare, making it more holistic and person centered makes me proud to be a part of the TCP team.

Everyone is so kind, hilarious and builds each other up. I look forward to going to work.”

- Client Care Coordinator, Summer T.

“Working at TCP for me is being able to work with an amazing team of professionals and human beings that care and give support with affection to their patients.

Working at TCP makes me feel that I am part of a community that cares about each other. Anniken & Marine are always supporting the staff in both aspects: professional and emotional, and they are always looking for ways to improve TCP, the service offered to clients, and the work environment for the staff.”

- Client Care Coordinator, Mayra L.

Meet Our Cheerful Founder

Anniken Chadwick

Founder, Pelvic Health Physio

Anniken founded The Cheerful Pelvis to create the community and support she couldn’t find when she entered into pelvic health.

She believes that pelvic health care shouldn’t be pushed into the back room of a regular physio clinic but has its own particular needs, especially around being more holistic and trauma informed. The clinic was designed to meet these needs both for the clients and us professionals.

Anniken operates the clinic as a womb for staff and clients alike to be nurtured to grow into their full potential.

She is passionate about working to progress the physiotherapy profession to be more relational, focussing on the therapeutic alliance, and to decolonize the culture of the profession. She has training in somatic psychotherapy, and an MEd in Contemplative Inquiry, and uses her cross discipline learning to optimize the transformative learning of team cheerful. If you are interested in learning more about Anniken’s decolonizing and mentorship work see The Art of Physio site for more info.
