Staff testimonials:

“Everyone at Cheerful has contributed to my blue print on how to be a better physio, not just clinically, but how I grow and think personally. Each one of us has a unique attribute to the clinic no matter the years of experience, and Cheerful celebrates that. As someone who started in pelvic health right out of physio school, TCP single handedly made me the pelvic floor physio I am today (from case load management, professional development to how to treat complex conditions). Our all encompassing / individualized mentorship structure permitted me to be clinically sound and confident/at ease in my practice no matter what is thrown at me compared to peers of my class. Going to work at Cheerful is surely the highlight of most my days, and I live a pretty fulfilling / eventful life 🙂 !”

“Exactly the team dynamic that I have been looking for for years. Feels like we are learning and growing from one another. I feel supported and like I am part of a “whole” while still feeling like I have autonomy to do my thing.”

The Cheerful Pelvis is a team of physios and support staff working together in East Vancouver to

1) offer physiotherapy and rehab services for pelvic health for all bodies

2) focus on collaborative learning to continually work towards clinical excellence as individuals and as a team.

This role is to work in our movement space offering pilates-based movement rehab to our clients, most of whom will be referred to you internally from our pelvic floor physio team. The role is therefore very collaborative and you’d work hand in hand with our entire team for the best client results.

The caseload will consist of a variety of presentations including

  • prenatal care and birth preparation
  • postnatal rehab
  • higher level athletic rehab for those with incontinence / prolapse / pain symptoms
  • persistent pain conditions like endometriosis

The ability to conduct internal exams for PF assessment is not required, but an interest in working and learning about pelvic health is a must.

There is potential for a mixed pelvic floor / clinical pilates caseload if that’s of interest.

We are looking for someone who

  • Is experienced in both group and 1:1 movement facilitation
  • Has a kind heart and a keen rehab eye
  • Can hold a positive space for clients finding movement difficult or scary
  • Is keen to be part of new and developing movement services at TCP

“TCP hands down has the best team environment! Everyone is completely supportive of each other and are always there to boost you if you’re not feeling your best. The leadership team sets an amazing example for the rest of the team, in their willingness to listen and learn from each other, and have fun at the same time! It’s been inspiring for me to work with such an awesome group of women!”

Employee Testimonials

“One of the things that has made me feel most supported is that I can ask a clinical question and be met with enthusiasm instead of dread or judgment. We have a commitment to growth and all have learning goals. That fact alone makes me feel supported and doesn’t make me feel less than when I don’t have all the answers. The feeling of always having to perform and be perfect is exhausting and sometimes crushing. I feel at TCP that I can take a layer of that off and be my authentic self as everyone else is doing the same and accepting that we are all learning/growing together.”

- Physio

“Having individual mentorship at TCP has taught me to look for my strengths and has helped me grow in my weaker areas. Also I so appreciate that when we discussed my hours when I was onboarding, your focus was my well-being and not how much money I would bring to the clinic. It helped me open my mind that as a boss, you valued me as a person more than just what I could do for you. It helped me reframe time as not just a commodity for earning money”

- Physio

“I purposely took this job knowing it didn’t have the same financial pay that I previously had but this work has been transformational to me as a person as well as it has already altered my trajectory as a physio and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

“Exactly the team dynamic that I have been looking for for years. Feels like we are learning and growing from one another. I feel supported and like I am part of a “whole” while still feeling like I have autonomy to do my thing.”

“Equal seniority at work. The “team” approach cultivates such an inclusive environment and moves us away from so much conflict or cliqueness. Usually, I am one to want to take everything on myself, but this is the first environment where I am eager and willing to lean on a team member, even/especially Anniken, when necessary, and truly do feel like we operate as a collective “one”.”

“Since joining TCP my clinical and personal skills have exponentially grown with exceptional support and mentorship. Between formal mentorship and informal colleague chats, TCP’s support is amazing,  you never feel alone. Along the way, no question too small or too big has not been answered. I could not have found a better clinic to facilitate my transition from countries, public to private healthcare, and pelvic health! Thank you so much Anniken and Trish (+TCP team)!”

“Even before I stepped foot in the clinic, I felt welcomed and supported by each member of Team Cheerful. Anniken has created an environment at TCP that fosters growth, team learning, and both personal and professional exploration. Especially as a new hire, Anniken ensured that I felt supported between 1-1 mentorship, group in-services, and daily questions as needed. This included support through my own struggles with perfectionism, as well as clinical support in areas like caseload management and clinical reasoning. I am so thankful to be apart of a team that celebrates all questions big and small, as well as provides a safe space to dive into the nitty-gritty of physio.”

“Working at TCP has been an awesome experience and I’m so sad to be leaving! The job itself is challenging and interesting, with lots of opportunity to grow your customer service skills with a friendly and varied client group! The ethos is all about growth and how we can do better to create an accessible and welcoming environment. The best part of my job is seeing clients come out of their sessions with big smiles on their faces and commenting on how great their sessions were!

TCP hands down has the best team environment! Everyone is completely supportive of each other and are always there to boost you if you’re not feeling your best. The leadership team sets an amazing example for the rest of the team, in their willingness to listen and learn from each other, and have fun at the same time! It’s been inspiring for me to work with such an awesome group of women!”

“I really enjoy working at TCP, our clinic aims to be inclusive and supportive and that culture is fostered by our leadership team.

I love being a part of a team that wants to make a real, lasting difference in the lives of our clients. As well as changing the way we engage with healthcare, making it more holistic and person centered makes me proud to be a part of the TCP team.

Everyone is so kind, hilarious and builds each other up. I look forward to going to work.”

Meet Our Cheerful Founder

Anniken Chadwick

Founder, Pelvic Health Physio

Anniken founded The Cheerful Pelvis to create the community and support she couldn’t find when she entered into pelvic health.

She believes that pelvic health care shouldn’t be pushed into the back room of a regular physio clinic but has its own particular needs, especially around being more holistic and trauma informed. The clinic was designed to meet these needs both for the clients and us professionals.

Anniken operates the clinic as a womb for staff and clients alike to be nurtured to grow into their full potential.

She is passionate about working to progress the physiotherapy profession to be more relational, focussing on the therapeutic alliance, and to decolonize the culture of the profession. She has training in somatic psychotherapy, and an MEd in Contemplative Inquiry, and uses her cross discipline learning to optimize the transformative learning of team cheerful. If you are interested in learning more about Anniken’s decolonizing and mentorship work see The Art of Physio site for more info.
